Monique Currie and Dearica Hamby each reached double figures in scoring off the bench, but the Stars fell to the Atlanta Dream 77-70 on Wednesday.

Currie filled up the stat sheet with 14 points, seven rebounds and four assists, while Hamby scored 13 points and grabbed eight rebounds, which tied Alex Montgomery for the team lead.
The Stars (0-6) jumped out to an early lead, outscoring the Dream 24-18 in the first quarter. San Antonio took a 39-36 lead into halftime, marking the fewest number of points the Stars have allowed in a first half all season.
The Stars’ aggressiveness on defense racked up 10 steals, which ties their season high, and held the Dream below 40 percent shooting.

The Dream (4-1) were led in scoring by Tiffany Hayes, who scored 16 points. Forwards Bria Holmes and Sancho Lyttle scored 15 and 14 points, respectively, while Layshia Clarendon contributed 13 points, five rebounds and eight assists.
Erika de Souza made two layups in the opening minutes for the Stars’ first four points of the game, and the 6-5 forward also notched a game-high three blocked shots.

For the second consecutive game, the Stars outshot their opponent. They also outrebounded them by a slim margin and matched them in team assists.
After back-to-back road games, San Antonio returns home to the AT&T Center Saturday to host the Connecticut Sun, who have started the season 1-5. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. Click here to purchase tickets.
