Three San Antonio players reached double-figures in scoring, but the Stars still fell to the Connecticut Sun 89-75 in Sunday afternoon’s road contest at the Mohegan Sun Arena.
Isabelle Harrison made 8-of-14 shots for a game-high 17 points and also pulled down six rebounds, while Kayla McBride and Kelsey Plum scored 14 and 11 points, respectively.
The trio of Dearica Hamby, Moriah Jefferson and Sydney Colson all came off the bench and chipped in eight points apiece for the Stars, who fell to 2-17 on the season.
Hamby also recorded a game-high 10 rebounds, Jefferson dished out three assists and McBride collected three steals.
San Antonio carried a 40-35 lead into halftime, but the Sun outscored the Stars 33-10 in the third quarter to put the game out of reach.
Courtney Williams led the Sun with 15 points while three other players scored 13. Alyssa Thompson grabbed nine rebounds and Alex Bentley notched a game-high seven assists off the bench.
The Stars return to action Tuesday, July 18, for a road game against the Atlanta Dream. Opening tip is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. at the McCamish Pavilion.
