Stars @ Phoenix, 7/30 Game Recap

San Antonio guard Shay Murphy scored a season-high 14 points, but the Stars dropped Sunday’s road contest to the Phoenix Mercury 81-64 at the Talking Stick Resort Arena.
Murphy, playing against her former team after the Stars acquired her from the Mercury in late June, made all three of her three-point attempts and also made 3-of-4 free throws.
Isabelle Harrison recorded her third double-double of the season with 10 points and 13 rebounds, while Kayla McBride and Dearica Hamby both reached double figures in scoring as well.
McBride’s 13 points marked the 18th time in her 20 games played that she has scored at least 10 points.
Former Star Monique Curry, who was the centerpiece of the June trade that netted Murphy, poured in a game-high 20 points, while All-Star guard Diana Taurasi scored 13 points and grabbed six rebounds.
The Stars outrebounded the Mercury with a season-high 43 boards, but Phoenix used a quick start in the first quarter to grab an early lead and refused to let the Stars back in the game.
