Stars v. Minnesota, 8/25 Game Recap

Kayla Alexander and Kayla McBride each led the Stars with 15 points tonight in a 89-70 loss to the Minnesota Lynx in San Antonio’s final home game of the season at the AT&T Center.

In addition to Alexander and McBride, the Stars were led by Alex Montgomery with 10 rebounds and Kelsey Plum with 11 points and 6 assists.

Maya Moore led the Lynx with 24 points, followed by Sylvia Folwes with a double-double 11 points and 10 rebounds and Natasha Howard with 11 points.

Alexander scored 9 points in the first quarter to lead the Stars to a 23-15 lead at the beginning of the period. However, Minnesota used a 16-5 run to take the 31-28 lead courtesy of a three pointer from Moore. At the end of the first half, the Lynx led 46-37.

The Stars used an 8-1 to start the fourth quarter to cut their deficit to 67-56 causing Minnesota to call a timeout. Moore responded with a layup. Renee Montgomery sank two jump shots to send the Lynx on a 10-0 run to continue their lead.

The Stars wrap up the 2017 season on the road with back-to-back contests Sept. 1 at New York at 6:30 p.m. (CDT) and at Indiana on Sept. 2 at 6 p.m. (CDT).
